About Me
I am a historian, specializing in peace and conflict research with focus on human rights and democracy.
My previous research has mainly focused on the legacy of the Armenian Genocide, including its politics of memory,
its impact on both perpetrator and victim groups, the inter-relations and the reconciliation process, but also in regard to international law and its political aspects. Within the scope of peace and conflict research, I am interested in post-conflict societies, how they are affected by the conflict, how the viable path towards a sustainable solution may look like and the role of the international community. These are all significant factors in case studies in my research including the Armenian Genocide, the Holocaust, but also non-genocide cases such as the post-apartheid South Africa et al. One such case I have studied in specific is the Nagorno-Karabakh Conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, impacting both societies, their democratic system and the region.
I am also the co-founder and editor of Armenica.org, a site dedicated
to the history of Armenia and its related issues. As part of the same project, we have also created and maintain
Genocide1915.org, offering general information about the events
during WWI and Mountainous-Karabakh.org, a site dedicated
to the conflict of Nagorno-Karabakh between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
